Sushi oke are used to cool and mix Japanese rice with sushi vinegar and other ingredients eg. for 'scattered' sushi.

It has brass around it, not plastic, like many imitations!

The wide, shallow shape allows the rice to cool quickly and evenly. Soak the bowl in water before use to stop the rice sticking.
The sushi oke wooden bowl can also be used for fanstastic presentation or holding raw foods ready for Shabu Shabu or other one pot dishes and grills.
